IMMORTALS OF AVEUM

Role: Principal Combat Designer

Immortals of Aveum  is a single-player first person amgic shooter that tells the story of Jak as he joins an elite order of battlemages to save a world on the edge of destruction.

The game focuses on fast based spell-slinging combat with high mobility, and progression in the form of 3 schools of magic.

Players mix/max magic colors to build Jak into a fierce battlemage while fighting through hordes of Rasharnian soldiers.

Contributions:

  • Worked with the lead combat designer to develop cross-disciplinary strike teams to rapidly ideate/iterate on new enemies and player abilities.

  • Overhauled and took ownership of all non-boss enemies.

  • Implemented Behavior Trees (And worked with engineers to update the behavior tree systems) for all enemies in Immortals of Aveum, and taught the rest of the combat team how to interact with enemy AI and behavior trees.

  • Pitched and developed many key enemies in Immortals, including the Red Magni, Blue Magni, Chroniclers, Leylodon, the Ancient Archon, and the Archivist boss encounter. 

  • Took ownership of developing, implementing, and balancing all player Talents.

  • Took ownership of designing, pitching, and back end implementation for the player Gear system. Proposed / balanced / iterated on all player Gear items.
