Frostbound

Role: Project Director

  • Release Date: December 2016

  • Platforms: Google Daydream

Frostbound is an experimental VR project for the Google Daydream, shortly following the Daydream's initial release. It was pitched, designed, and produced in roughly 7 months as a game that could demonstrate long-form gameplay on the Daydream platform.

In the game, the player controls a small group of 'Elkin' creatures on a long expedition to the top of a distant, snowy mountain using light management and RTS mechanics.

Contributions:

  • Designed and pitched the original concept to the studio & Google Daydream in response to an RFP.

  • Oversaw design and development of the game's visual style and core mechanics.

  • Assisted implementation of core systems as part of a small team.

  • Collaborated with programming lead to develop an animation pipeline that would enable RTS-style characters on a mobile game that had fidelity that could hold up in VR.
